Windsor, Colorado

Project Overview

This exterior renovation in Windsor, Colorado was completed by Siding Denver to transform a home with failing Masonite siding into a long-term, dream exterior. The existing materials were deteriorating and no longer offering reliable protection, prompting the homeowners to fully re-envision their home’s appearance and performance. Their goal was to create a forever-home aesthetic—elevated, cohesive, and built to last within the neighborhood they love.

Scope of Work

Siding Denver removed the failing Masonite siding and installed James Hardie® Evening Blue lap siding, paired with Hardie® fascia and soffit for durability and clean lines. Woodtone single siding was added in the gables, along with decorative wood beam corbels to introduce warmth and architectural character. All windows were replaced with Pella Lifestyle Series windows, and a new ProVia® entry door was installed. The front elevation was further enhanced with newly built railings, stone-and-cedar-wrapped columns, and a stone wainscot. A new bay window was cut into an area where no window previously existed, creating one of the most visually impactful changes of the project. A HardieWrap® weather barrier was also installed to improve moisture control and overall performance.

Design & Installation Process

The design approach centered on creating a refined, welcoming exterior that balanced curb appeal with longevity. The deep Evening Blue siding provides a strong, timeless foundation, while natural wood accents and stone details add depth and warmth. Special care was taken to integrate the new bay window so it felt original to the home’s design. Throughout the project, materials were selected with fire resistance and long-term durability in mind, ensuring the home would perform as beautifully as it looks.

Results & Impact

As shown in the before-and-after images below, this Windsor home underwent a dramatic transformation that completely elevated its presence in the neighborhood. The exterior now reflects the homeowners’ dream vision—a cohesive, timeless design built for long-term living. Beyond aesthetics, the upgraded materials provide improved fire resistance and weather protection, offering peace of mind and lasting value. The result is a true forever home that blends beauty, durability, and pride of ownership.

Fiber Cement Siding FAQs for Homeowners

Fiber cement siding is a composite material crafted from a blend of Portland cement, sand, water, and cellulose fibers. These ingredients are pressed and cured into strong, weather-resistant boards that can mimic the look of wood, stucco, or stone. The result is a highly durable cladding material that combines the aesthetic appeal of traditional siding with superior longevity and minimal maintenance. Because it’s engineered for performance, fiber cement siding holds up exceptionally well in Denver’s fluctuating weather—from summer heat and UV exposure to freezing winter temperatures.

With proper installation and care, fiber cement siding can last 30 to 50 years or even longer. Its long lifespan is one of its greatest advantages, especially in a region like Denver where homes experience both intense sunlight and heavy snowfall. Unlike wood, it won’t rot, warp, or swell with moisture, and unlike vinyl, it won’t become brittle in cold weather. Most manufacturers also back their products with long-term warranties, offering homeowners peace of mind for decades.

Fiber cement siding delivers an impressive combination of beauty, strength, and value. Some of the most notable benefits include:

  • Exceptional durability: Resistant to moisture, rot, fire, and pests.
  • Low maintenance: Requires little more than an occasional rinse and inspection.
  • Design versatility: Available in lap, shingle, or panel styles with a wide range of textures and colors.
  • Fire resistance: A non-combustible material ideal for Colorado’s dry, high-altitude climate.
  • Dimensional stability: Resists cracking and warping even through freeze-thaw cycles.
  • Curb appeal and value: Enhances a home’s resale value thanks to its timeless appearance and longevity.

Compared to vinyl siding, fiber cement provides a more natural, high-end appearance and superior resistance to fire and weather damage. Vinyl can fade or crack under Denver’s strong UV exposure, whereas fiber cement retains its form and finish much longer. Against wood, fiber cement excels in durability—it won’t attract termites or woodpeckers, and it doesn’t rot or warp from moisture. While wood offers a classic look, fiber cement replicates that style without the demanding upkeep.

One of the biggest benefits of fiber cement siding is how little maintenance it needs. Regular upkeep typically involves:

  • Washing the exterior once or twice a year to remove dust, pollen, and debris.
  • Checking caulking and joints for cracks or gaps and resealing as needed.
  • Touching up or repainting every couple of decades, depending on finish type and sun exposure.
Factory-finished options, like those pre-painted with baked-on color coatings, can last up to 20 years before requiring new paint. In Denver’s dry climate, these low-maintenance features are a huge advantage.

Yes. Fiber cement siding is widely recognized as one of the best returns on investment in exterior remodeling. It instantly enhances curb appeal and signals to potential buyers that the home is built to last. For Denver homeowners planning to sell, high-quality siding like fiber cement often ranks among the top exterior improvements in terms of resale value and buyer appeal.

Yes. Fiber cement siding requires specialized tools and installation techniques to ensure proper alignment, fastening, and weatherproofing. It’s heavier and denser than vinyl or wood, which means incorrect installation can compromise performance and void manufacturer warranties. Hiring a certified siding contractor—especially one familiar with Colorado’s building codes and weather conditions—is the best way to ensure your investment lasts a lifetime.
